The 1st time we met Josh was back in mid-90's, he must been 4 or 5, in Oregon, when he was visiting his grandma (my sister). I remember him smiling all the time and enjoying roasted seaweed with rice. We'd play Korean cards and he seemed like winning all the time. He would count his cards with big smile on his face, and boy, he could count, adding several cards at a time. He was such a joyful and bright young kid... Josh and his family are in our prayers.

I remembered when I first came to the Anderson's home to babysit all 4 of the kids. I especially remembered Josh because he was the youngest and most expressive. I instantly liked him. He really was a great kid and very protective of his siblings. The Anderson family, my heart and prayer go out to you guys. I am truly sorry for your loss. Josh was a wonderful kid. Love Ketly

We know many others feel this way as well, but "as for me and my house"...Josh has a special place in our hearts that will never be forgotten or replaced. He brought pure joy to us in all that we experienced in knowing him. We feel so blessed to have known him his entire, sweet life. We are reminded of the "sumo" baby that he was. Thanks to your family for sharing him with us. We witnessed your love for him through the years and the miles traveled together. We are eternally grateful for the blessing of Josh.
As we heard so many pour out their memories and love for Josh we were especially moved and inspired as person after person, teen after teen, shared that they had never heard an unkind word from him. What a testimony to his wonderful life and what an upward call to all of us who knew him and loved him.
Our thoughts and prayers are constant for your family, each of you, name by name. May God's love and the love of all those around you give you some peace and strength as you make your way through this journey.

The pictures are great! I wish I could have gotten to know Josh better. He always had a smile on his face and was a really sweet guy. I know he touched a lot of hearts. Rest in peace. Josh and the Anderson family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Although the distance prevented us from watching Joshua grow up, we thank you for posting these photos. And I know we've always looked forward to reading the end-of-year recaps that Susan faithfully sent each year with their Christmas card to keep us all connected. The lose of joshey is obviously something i never thought i would see. i cant help but to remember all the times playing video games, watching sports, and of course all the times at camp. i will never forget the unbelievable heart, and the joy that joshua brought to everyone he came in contact with. my heart and prayers go to out to the anderson family. joshua certainly will be missed. i love you all.

When we first met our cousin, he was probably about five years old. You could instantly tell he was a kind, gentle soul. And although we couldn't see him grow up, these precious photos of Joshua make us feel proud that we were part of the same family. Words aren't enough to describe the shock and loss, but we're thankful for the moments we had with him and we will forever remember that sweet face.

You and I have always been strong women and trust me you will recognise your strength in the next few months and years, the great fear and sadness you feel now WILL get easier in time, I promise... I didn't believe it, but Sue, the sun WILL come out again. Grieve and mourn and scream and cry, all the pain you feel now.... well our boys are worth it because we love them so much, in life and in their death. I love you Sue, I will never forget the night when Tyler stayed with my Ben and how happily they played together as boys.

Our hearts go out to you in this time and we have been praying and will continue to do so as you go thru this incredibly difficult time. I'll always remember Josh at camp the year he and his team won the camp olympics for his age group. He had the most beautiful smile and sweet spirit. I'll cherish that. I remember spending NYE 2000 together wondering if everything would shut down at midnight! I'll always remember all of our kids making Christmas ornaments after a yummy Thanksgiving meal. These are only some of the memories but I'll hold them close. Thank you for sharing your son with our family and I pray that all the love being poured out and all the prayers bring you comfort. Hi Tim & Sue,
There are not words strong enough to express how sad I am over your loss, and how heart-broken I am about Josh. I pasted below what I wrote on Facebook, but it only scratches the surface of how deeply this has impacted me. I haven't seen you or Josh in four years (since I left VA), but my memories of him are so vivid. I cannot recall a time when he was not joyful or not smiling. I have cried several times over this and Josh was a light in my life a few years ago.

I can't think of anything to comfort you other than to say that I would be proud if my son David touched hearts the way Josh touched mine and so many others.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers, as is Josh.

Remembering josh is one of the easiest things for us (the langley students)to do because he did the most memorable things from brightening everyones day to laughing off any issue he was having so he could focus on making ours a top priority. I nor any of my friends know anyone who has ever said anything negative about josh, its just impossible to think of something he did that wasn't appreciated. The picture board, the videos, the service, and everything that you guys made for him was beautiful. This site is amazing and i have a feeling no one is ever going to stop posting stories, memories, and or thoughts we have about josh and the family. We love you and were here to help you get through this. Your in our prayers

Josh was certainly one of the most geniune people that I have ever met. He was a great friend who always cared for everyones well being. His unbeatable smile was sure to warm the room. Although Josh was not a very verbose person his brief unexpected jokes during class lightened the mood and always made me smile. Josh was a kind, fun-loving, funny, smart, and respectful person who is going to be greatly missed by all. I feel very privlaged to have been blessed with his precense. Josh was a spectacular person with indiscribeable charm and I am deeply sorry for your loss. My prayers go out to the entire family and Josh.

When God calls one of his own it leaves us feeling alone. Judge not his soul for God alone knows the path that he would take. Remember Mercy and Grace he owns. Trust in faith and bear this not alone. God hears your cries, your questions why, he listens and he hears. Do not place blame, just relish in his name. Trust in the love in him as John the Baptist did when he asked “Are you the one or shall we seek after another”. Remember the response and bear with it tonight. God knows the very path each of us must go. Draw near to God today trust and keep your faith. Feel your pain and learn its wisdom for in it knowledge you will gain. Josh was a bright star and to him life seemed very hard. But trust in these things we know our God is merciful. Josh had the warmest smile and calm spirit and i used to love watching keith jr , Bryce and Josh run about your house when they were no older than like 7 or 8

I did not know Josh very well, but all I can think about is his smile. I know my father has done all he can do to help and to keep Josh's memory alive. We both miss Josh so much, and we will never forget him. He was an amazing person. I'm pretty sure I've written his number on about every shirt that I have. We are very sorry, and if your family ever needs anything (i'm sure my dad has said) we are always here. I'll never, ever, ever forget Josh.

I only just recently learned of Josh's passing a few days ago. I cannot even begin to describe the shock and disbelief I felt, let alone try to express how sorry I am to his family for this terrible tragedy. The last time I saw Josh was when he was ten years old, a happy go lucky kid me and Tyler used to give pink bellies to. I never got to know him as a young man. Never got to see the person he was becoming. Josh, You will be missed little bro.

I did not know Josh. I read about him in the Washington Post this AM and cried. I have a 15 yr old son and I am tring to get him through the tough teenage years. I can tell you are a loving Mom and that Josh knew that. Please do not beat yourself up for what you could have done. I know it is not easy. Maybe this will help others and help get the rules changed. I am praying for you.

I read josh's story and am outraged over the zero tolerance law that led to your heartache. Smoking pot is not the end of the world. I smoked pot in high school and could have been one of those students dealt such a heavy hand, but I wasn't. I got steller grades, graduated with a bachelors degree, and have a great job. If I had been treated the same as josh, I may not have gone on to a successful life. Millions of adults smoke pot. The people who implemented the policy should be held sccountable for josh's death. They're likely hypocrits smoking pot and drinking their drinks in their personal time. My heart goes out to you all for the loss of your son, friend, or brother. He was just being a normal boy.

I didnt know josh particularly well but i wish i could've. his death is a reminder to us all that when we loose some one so amazing as he is, it affects us all so deeply. I asked the pastor from our Church St. Thomas a Becket to ask for prayers for Josh which he did the last two Sundays. I wish that Josh could still be here today sitting in class with all of us, mostly sleeping, and these pictures of him remind me how much i miss him and how much i will forever.
